Game FAQs

The game is a satirical “slice of life” in very turbulent times. It follows the life of Roberto - a career military man, husband a father - from 1921 to 1939, when Spain went through very significant social, political and cultural changes.
The meat of the game takes place during the Spanish Civil War (1936 - 1939), during which time Roberto is the general of the Republican army (by elimination, he’s basically the only one that sticks around). It focuses more on “people” than in “war”, so you’ll be interacting with civilians and Roberto’s family/friends and seeing how their context is affecting their lives.
It’s a historical game but it follows the lead of shows like “Peaky Blinders”: big historical events and figures are still present and behave in the exact same way they did but some characters (and their lives) are made up.

The game is a combination of strategy and adventure genres. It takes place in a loop where you switch from one to the other within a day in the life of Roberto.
You’ll wake up at home, interact with your family/friends, buy some coffee, visit locations and walk to work. At your office, you’ll be called to the “War Room” where you’ll be directing the war efforts using our simultaneous-turn-based system (WeGo). Where in other strategy games you’re an “omnipresent commander”; here you’re a “character” in the world with your own motivations, dreams and relationships.

It’s a literal translation of a Spanish saying (“más se perdió en Cuba y volvieron cantando” which literally translated would be “more was lost in Cuba and they came back singing”) that more or less means “it’s not that big a deal”.
We chose it to indicate the fact that the game is set in Spain, it’s kinda satirical and also point towards the “Cuban War” - which was a massive political event that marked the end of Spain’s imperialistic policies and created a huge shift in the social and cultural aspects of the country.

I mean, if we were making fun of one side or the other or mocking the dead, then yeah… it would be. But luckily that’s not what we’re doing.
When we say “satirical” we’re referring to the fact that we make fun of leaders, politicians, militants, idealists, generals, etc… You can think of it as a “dramedy”. The Spanish Civil War was an incredibly tragic period for a lot of reasons but the one that stuck out the most (to me) was the sheer stupidity of it all.
As I read more and more about the history, I realized the stunning amount of stupid and reckless decisions made by either side both leading up to and during the conflict. A lot of people warned politicians about what was gonna happen, but they just decided to ignore them. Civilians, meanwhile didn’t really give a fuck about all the politics; the ones that did mainly lived in the cities (which at the time was a minority of Spain’s population). It’s honestly a cautionary tale about extremist ideals, powerful idiots and how the ones that pay are always the common folk… Kind of good lesson for our current times.

Yes.

I find it hard to understand why you care about this. Like I said, the game is not about one side or the other, it’s about "people” and how both sides fucked up massively (each in their own ways). Yes, it’s a game about politics and their relation with society but it’s not a game about the politics, ideals or morality of one side or the other. I think they were both pretty hypocritical.

For fuck sake, FINE!
If you must know, I would have preferred it if there was never a civil war and the republic kept going. I am in favor of the social changes the Republic introduced to Spain (though I might disagree with their execution in some cases). I side with democracy and always will.
I know, that’s kind of a wishy-washy answer but, I can’t say “I wish the Republic won” because by the end it wasn’t much of a republic… They were silencing differing opinions, carrying executions and even massacred people on their same side in Barcelona (because they didn’t have their “communist” ideals, George Orwell wrote about this btw).

Hi! I’m Jack :D.
It’s mostly a one-man show, I do almost everything from community management to promotion and programming. I do have some help with AI, art/animation and music but I’ll tell you more about them later. You can check the “About” section up top to know more.
